CMHC: Repair and spalling of leaking clay brick

A few years after being built in Waterloo in 1980, a condominium project of three buildings six-storeys each, showed severe spalling of the clay brick on the building and site walls.Water leakage was also detected. Significant masonry damage occurred in three areas: below sloped roofs without eaves or gutters, at roof parapets and at enclosed, uninsulated balconies.
